My Thoughts

2012 is going to be MY year…

My kids are all tucked into bed and as I sit here in the quiet, I am tempted/taunted by the siren call of the leftover Christmas chocolate in the kitchen. (Raise your hand if you know what I am talking about!)

I admit it.

Whenever my wits are at their end, my marbles are rolling all over the floor or I am calling the Zoo to see if they will PLEASE take my kids…I want chocolate. Or coffee. Or a drink. And these things are especially easy to get right now because of my favorite time of year. I know I can’t blame Christmas, or New Years or all the lovely people who brought and left said chocolate, or coffee, or alcohol…it’s all me. And so that is where I am. Sitting here, in the quiet, trying to NOT get up and go to the kitchen.

I am going to win this will power battle.

I KNOW I am.

Why am I so positive?!

Because I have decided that… (pardon the language)

Funny New Year's Ecard: 2012 will be my bitch.

Having spent the last 5 years being pregnant or having a newborn around, my poor ol’ body has been through the wringer. So, being that baby Frances is our last (planned!) baby…I am so excited to finally have my body back to myself. No more losing the baby weight to gain it all back again. My pre-pregnancy weight will be back and last more than two months this time!! (between baby #1 and #2!). I am going to make my outside match how I feel inside…pretty damn fabulous!

This is my New Year’s Resolution…but it’s more than that, this body managed to create, grow and nourish 3 beautiful kids, and it deserves to be treated like the goddess it is…so 2012…here I come!!!

My Thoughts

So, being that the end of January is, well, today…I thought I’d update you on the state of  my resolutions.

1) Marathon…

I got my treadmill about the 2nd week of January and have loved it ever since. It’s still up for debate if it returns the love.

I’ve followed a plan from a website that my friend Jenn sent me….I really like it, it’s something to help guide me and it doesn’t ask too much of me too quickly. It starts you out running one minute, walking one minute and alternating days with just walking, each for 30 min. Week 2 starts out the same, but then they expect you to be able to run 4 minutes/walk 1 minute by the end of the week…not really there yet.

I’m up to running 3 minutes….and plan to keep that up for this upcoming week. I’m happy with week by week adding a minute. There is no hurry and I’d rather work at my pace than get discouraged and quit…am enjoying the nap time workouts and look forward to them(ok, that’s a white lie…I don’t ALWAYS look forward to it…).

2) Mountain Climb…

Ok this one hasn’t really been on the forefront. Although, working out is working toward this goal and my friend Heidi has suggested a great mountain to climb…what was the name of it again? And this goal is one that is weather dependant…go away snow!

3)Driving standard…

Yah…nothing here either…still trying to talk the husband into loaning me his truck…ok..that’s not true, he’s offered but we haven’t got around to it yet…maybe during calving season…when we have loads of time…bahahaha!

4) Still haven’t eaten at McDonalds…and not missing it one bit!

5) Opened my very own TFSA!!! For those of you who don’t know what that is…time to book an apointment with your bank and find out!!

6) Budget…well…I made one…and now am well aware that I have overspent in several areas…oh well, there is always next month!

7) Inviting people over for dinner…opps…mental note…invite people over for dinner.

Little Miss Marathon

Sooooo…my friend H pointed out something…

Apparently, when I said marathon in my resolutions, I was committing to one of those YOU HAVE GOT TO BE CRAZY 41km type things….

Ummmm…I retract my resolution…or rather modify it a titch…

A 5km run was more along what I was thinking…or 10km… I feel better…happy now H?!

Fashion & Beauty · Home Sweet Home

Oh my…

Am I allowed this on my New Year’s resolution budget?!? I doubt it!

I have 2 very wonderful, ambitious, beautiful and fun girlfriends who run their own businesses….the ottoman above is from Mink and Manure… a business that I started with my girl Jenn several years ago and due to babies, the farm, work and all that jazz, she now is flying solo and is rocking it! Jenn is out there in the world making it  more fun and beautiful one party at a time (check out her site for details…it’s a home party concept AND she has a store in Irricana, AB). I still LOVE the name of the company…it’s hysterical and has gotten a lot of attention over the years!

The other fantastic friend is Jenny…she owns Cowgirl Bling…and the company runs with the same concept…shop in the comfort of your own home WITH your friends…how fun is that!

It is a little dangerous that I have these see, they have GREAT taste and I love all their stuff…hard to resist!!

My New Year’s Resolutions….

This should be titled, “The things I want to do this year but probably won’t”…’Cause I should be honest with you and myself…I do have a newborn…and a 2 year old…and a big house that should be cleaned much more often…and a busy husband who, for some reason, likes having clean socks and underwear everyday…

But just incase I DO manage to meet my resolutions, this is my plan! A long, long, long time ago I kept a journal (this was pre married and pre kids…LOADS of time on my hands!). And in this journal I wrote out a long list of things I want to do in this lifetime…and I mean big ambitious things! Like climb a mountain (#25), own a pair of Manolo shoes (#50), travel to Italy (#47), learn to surf (#27)…etc. I’ve been adding to it over the years and things actually have been crossed off as I have accomplished them…the surfing one (!), traveling to Australia and New Zealand, lying on a hot, tropical beach…and so on…

Anyways, the point of this ramble is that I am going to try to accomplish AT LEAST 3 things off that long list this year. I’ve picked this goal for two reasons, 1- it’ll be fun and 2- I need to remind myself often this year that I’m more than just a mommy, wife, a maid, and chef….of course my family already knows this and remind me this everyday, but I need to remind myself once in a while. It’s an important thing to do…it’ll keep me sane through the every 2 hour feedings and make me feel like me. That is a strange sentence, but anyone who’s been a new mom can relate…it’s easy to lose yourself when there is so much demand on your time and energy and as my wonderfully wise mom once  said “You’ll be a better mom to your kids if you have your own life too.”.

So, wish me luck in my adventures (although I doubt this year’s 3 things will be that outrageous or adventurous) and I’ll keep you updated on which ones I pick and how it works out!!
