Why I blog…

This question is one that not only have I asked myself, but have been asked by others; and I haven’t discovered my favorite answer yet. Or rather an answer that actually is short enough not to bore people.

I started because I had just had baby # 2 and wanted to think about something other than diapers and sleepless nights. The content is all stuff that appeals to me, and I figure if I like it…someone else will too?! I had searched for western sites or blogs in the past and never found anything that was my style, western with a lot of flash. And so thought, why not make up my own.

Here I am, 10 months later and loving it. It was a hard balance at first, finding time to write/create posts and still getting kids fed, house cleaned and laundry did. My poor, darling husband ran out of clean socks a few times before I found my rhythm; and he didn’t complain once.

Maybe this is another reason why I blog. I can vent my creative/sparkly personality and have tremendous support from my family. Maybe my husband figures if I write about fashion and clothes, I’ll spend less time shopping for them?!

Either way, I am in love with this blogging thing and appreciate all the support and comments from all you fabulous people who actually read this thing! And what is that you love? I am in a blogging rut lately and sometimes worry that I put out too much of one thing and not enough of others….or am too all over the place…or that I should try harder to show more of our farming life…

Feedback is fabulous, so let me know! Thanks!!!

  1. hey sweetie i love your blog! just one question, can you be my personal shopper too? there are so many great clothes i see here but i never shop!! keep up the great work!

  2. I have never looked at a blog before until I found yours…now I look forward to reading it every morning! It is a nice mix of fashion, home decor, cooking and your farm life. I love it! Also like the links to other sites and blogs that I would have never found!
    You have great style, Cathryn!

  3. i recently just came across your blog and i absolutely love it 🙂 we’re all so unique with our own special tastes and preferences, it’s always cool to see what someone else loves! and i think it’s adorable how your husband thinks you’ll shop less if you blog about shopping, haha. wonderful blog, wonderful style, you’re awesome!

  4. I love your blog just the way it is! It brings your personality across and I think you do a great job of keeping things mixed up! Def stay your course and blog about things that are true to you and that you want to blog about (as long as that still includes farm girl/farm home fashion)! 🙂

  5. I´ve been following your blog for a couple of months now, not sure how long exactly hehe, ever since I read about in the the Herald. Even though I don´t have much in common I still enjoy reading it and that you update so often! I would love to see more of your own pictures as those are the most genuine 🙂

  6. I enjoy reading your blog! I have read it weekly for a few months, I love it just the way it is and wouldn’t change a thing!

  7. Blog about what YOU want – stop worrying about what others may “think” (your examples – of too much of one topic, etc). You need to ENJOY the journey Cathryn and if you feel like you need to blog about what others want – then your true colors and passions won’t come out. As you continue to follow your own Blogroll – new blog ideas will pop into your head. It’s common to get into a rut – we’ve all been there 😉 I once read on Ree’s website – that on those days – she opens up her cupboard and takes pictures to blog about! You’re AMAZING and I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Farmer’s Trophy Wife!! Thanks for sharing your story. Happy Thanksgiving weekend. Trust harvest is going awesome.

  8. I love reading about your farm life! It’s so very different from anything I experience in the city, and that makes it really interesting. But your fashion and design posts make your blog unique compared to other farming blogs I’ve read, so I like that too – so basically I’ll read whatever you post! 🙂

  9. I just recently came across your blog, so I’m probably not much help with the suggestions yet! I do think the mix of farming and fashion, decorating, cooking, etc you talk about is a fun blend. I also blog about farming, along with things like running and cooking, so I definitely understand the need to talk about more than 1 subject in a blog! I love that leaf picture.
